Gibson Guitars have released their new Zakk Wylde signature model Les Paul Custom Vertigo guitar.
Speaking with MusicRadar.com, Zakk explains that he's had the idea for the guitar in his head for years and its only just now been realized:
"The Vertigo was something I had in my head. I had this amazing Les Paul, but I felt like I needed to do something to establish some sort of identity . . . You had Eddie with the stripes all over his guitars, and Randy had the polka dots, so I thought, All right, what am I about?"
The instrument features a black striped designed that is similar to that used on the posters for Alfred Hitchcock's classic film Vertigo.
Wylde previously had a custom model guitar that was an attempt to capture his imagined vision. That design became Wylde's "bulls eye" model.
"I don't know why it took so long," said Wylde. "All I know is that the Vertigo is an awesome fiddle, man."
