Lionel Richie is no longer slated to appear in the upcoming ABC series, Duets. His rep said that Richie has "personal scheduling conflicts," which will prevent his involvement with the program.

According to Entertainment Weekly, producers have nabbed R&B star John Legend to replace Richie alongside the show's three other mentors —Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland, Kelly Clarkson and Robin Thicke.

"I'm thrilled to be part of Duets and I'm looking forward to finding an undiscovered gem out there. This is going to be a lot of fun," said Legend in a statement.

On the program, each of the mentors will trek across the country in search of two competitors apiece to serve as their singing partners. Then, the following week one of the celebrity members and their chosen competitor will perform a duet in front of a live studio audience.

Duets premieres on ABC May 24.
