HSN Inc. (HSNI: Quote,HSNIV: Quote) reported a rise in first-quarter net income to $26.17 million or $0.44 per share from the prior year's $20.28 million or $0.34 per share. On an adjusted basis, quarterly net income amounted to $30.26 million or $0.50 per share, higher than $24.54 million or $0.41 per share last year.

On average, 7 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected earnings per share of $0.37 for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude one-time items.

Net sales improved to $747.31 million from $710.56 million in the earlier year quarter. Analysts estimated revenues of $747.14 million for the quarter.
