JDS Uniphase Slips To Loss In Q3 - Quick Facts

Communication equipment maker JDS Uniphase Corp. (JDSU, JDU.TO) reported that its third-quarter GAAP net loss was $17.4 million, or $0.08 per share, compared to net income of $38.6 million, or $0.16 per share for the third fiscal quarter of 2011.

On a non-GAAP basis, net income was $25.3 million or $0.11 per share, down from $51.0 million, or $0.22 per share for the third fiscal quarter of 2011.

Net revenue decreased to $409.2 million from $454.0 million in the same quarter last year.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $0.11 per share on revenues of $420.27 million for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

For the fourth quarter of fiscal 2012, ending June 30, 2012, the Company expects non-GAAP net revenue to be in the range of $415 million to $435 million. Analysts expect the company to report revenues of $456.56 million for the fourth-quarter.
