Health Net Inc. (HNT: Quote) reported a first quarter net loss of $0.32 per share Thursday morning, compared to the loss of $1.16 per share last year. The consensus estimate was for a profit of $0.60 per share.
Health Net gapped open sharply lower Thursday and fell until mid-morning, before settling into a range. The stock closed down by 9.06 at $27.26 on the highest volume of the year. Health Net sank to a 5-month low and dropped below its 200-day moving average.
