The CW network has renewed two of its fantasy gothic shows, "The Vampire Diaries" and "Supernatural." The former will, in effect, carry on with its fourth season, while the latter picks up its eighth season.
"The Vampire Diaries'" renewal was no great surprise as it is the network's biggest draw, garnering an average of 2.8 million viewers per week.
Other programs given the green light by the network are "90210" (its fifth season) and "America's Next Top Model." There has been no word on "Gossip Girl," "Ringer," or "Nikita," although CW should have its fall lineup set by late May.
In late March CW canceled the struggling reality show "H8R" in an effort to drum up excitement for "Ringer," however it is not clear whether that effort will have proved successful in saving the Sarah Michelle Geller vehicle.
