Singer/songwriter Jewel has landed the lead role as June Carter, the late wife of the late Johnny Cash, in The June Carter Cash Story - a made-for-television movie that will air on the Lifetime network later this year.
The movie, set to begin filming in Atlanta in early summer with director Allison Anders, is based on Anchored in Love: An Intimate Portrait of June Carter Cash - a book written by John Carter Cash, the only child of Johnny and June Carter Cash, both of whom passed away in 2003.
Matt Ross (American Horror Story) is slated to star alongside Jewel, playing the role of Johnny Cash.
This won't be the first time the Carter Family singer will be portrayed on the silver screen. Reese Witherspoon won an Oscar for her portrayal in 2005's Walk the Line.
