United Fire Group Q1 Profit Rises - Quick Facts

United Fire Group Inc (UFCS) reported that its first-quarter net income was $19.18 million or $0.75 per share, compared to $5.81 million or $0.22 per share in the same quarter last year.

Operating income increased to $0.68 per share from $0.16 per share last year. Total revenues for the quarter rose to $193.70 million from $144..08 million in the prior year quarter.

Federal Aviation Administration said several pilots complained about pointing of strong green laser beams at planes flying over Long Island. The location was around Farmingdale, during 9.30 pm and 10 pm. Searches are on to locate the exact source of the laser beam. The Federal official suspects that the beam came from a hand-held device.
