Finland's merchandise trade deficit decreased from last year in March as imports dropped significantly, data from the National Customs Board showed Tuesday.
The trade deficit dropped to EUR140 million in March from EUR695 million in the same month last year. In February, the trade balance was a deficit of EUR630 million.
Export of goods decreased 1 percent year-on-year to EUR5.105 billion in March. In February, the value of exports was EUR4.385 billion. Shipments to European Union states fell by 9 percent annually, while dispatches to the Eurozone countries dropped 7 percent.
Imports declined 11 percent on an annual basis to EUR5.245 billion in March. In February, arrivals totaled EUR5.015 billion. Imports from the EU countries decreased 6 percent annually, while arrivals from the euro area dropped 5 percent.
