Hungary's industrial production increased slightly in March, after falling in the previous two months, defying economists' forecast for a decline, preliminary data released by the Central Statistical Office showed Tuesday.
Industrial production advanced a working-day adjusted 0.6 percent year-on-year in March, recovering from February's revised 3.5 percent decrease. In January, industrial output dropped 1.6 percent annually. Economists expected output to edge down by 0.1 percent in March.
On an unadjusted basis, production decreased 1.6 percent in March, after rising 0.8 percent in the previous month, the agency said.
On a monthly basis, industrial output moved up a seasonally adjusted 0.6 percent in March, reversing the previous month's 0.2 percent decline. In the January-March period, Hungary's industrial output dropped 0.1 percent from the corresponding period a year earlier.
