Cyprus HICP Inflation Rises In April

Cyprus' EU harmonized inflation increased modestly in April, data released by the Statistical Service of the Republic of Cyprus said Tuesday.

The harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) increased 3.6 percent on an annual basis in April, slightly faster than the previous month's 3.5 percent growth. In February, the index advanced 3.1 percent year-on-year.

Food and non-alcoholic beverages prices rose 4.5 percent annually, while clothing and footwear prices decreased 2.2 percent.

There was an 11.4 percent annual growth in housing costs and utility prices in April, and a 4 percent gain in transportation costs, the agency said.
