U.S. Silica Holdings Inc. (SLCA: Quote) Tuesday said its profit for the first quarter increased, due mainly to higher revenues.
The Frederick, Maryland-based company reported a first-quarter net profit of $19.11 million or $0.37 per share, compared to $3.51 million or $0.07 per share last year.
On average, seven analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.32 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Total revenues for the quarter grew to $102.59 million from $64.43 million in the prior-year quarter.
