Mary J. Blige graces the cover of the June 2012 issue of Essence magazine. "Special Issue: Guest Editor Mary J. Blige's Advice on Style, Spirit & Success," reads the headline.
The appearance marks the 12th of Blige on the mag, but it is the first time she has served as its guest editor. "You've got to make you feel better," Mary is quoted as advising on the cover.
On the inside Mary J. says that her positive self-image is rooted in her religious faith:
"I was never really able to look at myself in the mirror until I began to hear God telling me I was beautiful. Suddenly, other people started telling me I was beautiful, too, because I had started believing it . . ." ". . . in the introspective piece, 'Take Me As I Am', Miss Mary reminds readers that the woman who's most irresistible to a man is the one who loves herself," added Essence in a presser.
