A new film on Jimi Hendrix will be coming to theaters soon. The film will star OutKast singer Andre 3000 as Hendrix and focuses on the time Hendrix spent in England from 1966 and 1967 crafting his debut album, Are You Experienced?

According to The Irish Film and Television Network, the film will be directed by John Ridley (writer on Three Kings, U-Turn) and is currently in pre-production in Wicklow, Ireland with shooting set to begin in three weeks in both Wicklow and Dublin. The entire film is expected to be shot in six weeks.

The film will feature the discovery of Hendrix by Keith Richard's then-girlfriend Linda Keith.

Captain America actress Hayley Atwell previously said that she had been approached to take part in a Hendrix biopic, but Andre is the only confirmed cast member thus far.
