Latvia March Factory Turnover Growth Quickens

Manufacturing turnover in Latvia increased at a sharply faster rate in March, data released by Central Statistical Bureau showed Thursday.

Turnover in the manufacturing sector increased a calendar-adjusted 14.8 percent on an annual basis in March, after rising 9.8 percent in February. Turnover of goods sold in the domestic market rose 9.5 percent annually, while sale in the overseas market jumped 19.5 percent.

Overall industrial turnover grew 15 percent year-on-year during the month, while mining and quarrying turnover climbed 29.4 percent.

Month-on-month, factory turnover advanced a seasonally adjusted 5.6 percent in March, recovering from the previous month's 5.7 percent fall. In the January-March period, manufacturing turnover moved up a calendar-adjusted 13.6 percent from the corresponding period a year earlier, the agency said.
