Russell Brand has been pegged as the host to the 2012 MTV Movie Awards which airs live from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Los Angeles on Sunday, June 3 at 9 PM EST.
"This MTV Movie Awards will be more impressive than 'The Avengers,' and you won't have to wait an hour for someone to Hulk out," Brand said Thursday.
Executive producer Jesse Ignjatovic called Brand a "brilliant talent [who] brings the funny but also has that rock 'n' roll aesthetic."
"He has amazing comedic chops. He's brilliant. He touches all of the areas that I think are important to us," he added.
Brand previously hosted the MTV Video Music Awards in 2008 and 2009; it is his first go at hosting the Movie Awards.
