Italian annual inflation, as measured by the harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP), slowed slightly to 3.7 percent in April from 3.8 percent in March, final data published by the statistical office Istat showed Monday.
The annual rate for April was revised down from 3.8 percent. On a monthly basis, the index climbed 0.9 percent, in line with flash estimate, but down sharply from the 2.5 percent increase seen in March.
Inflation, as per the consumer price index, remained unchanged at 3.3 percent in April. Month-on-month, inflation was steady at 0.5 percent. Both numbers matched preliminary estimate.
