Atlantic American Q4 Profit Down

Atlantic American Corp. (AAME: Quote) reported first-quarter net income of $1.7 million or $0.07 per share, up from $0.5 or $0.02 per share in the same period last year.

Total revenues for the quarter rose 23.2 percent to $34.6 million from $28.1 million a year ago.

Premiums for the quarter increased 20.7 percent to $30.7 million from $25.4 million in the comparable period last year, mainly due to strong premium growth in the life and health business,
