Estonia's unemployment rate increased slightly from the previous quarter in the first quarter, data released by Statistics Estonia showed Tuesday.
The unemployment rate edged up to 11.5 percent in the first quarter from 11.4 percent in the fourth quarter. In the first quarter of 2011, the jobless rate was 14.4 percent. There were around 79,600 unemployed persons during the three-month period.
At the same time, the number of employed persons dropped slightly to 614,300 in the first quarter from 614,500 in the fourth quarter.
During the last two quarters, the unemployment rate has slightly increased due to the growth of unemployment among men, the agency said.
