France's non-farm payroll employment was broadly unchanged in the first three months of the year, after declining in the previous two quarters, preliminary data released by the statistical office INSEE revealed Tuesday.
Payroll employment in the principally market sectors, which includes manufacturing, construction and services, edged up 0.1 percent quarter-on-quarter, reversing a similar size fall in the previous three months. Employment declined 0.3 percent each in manufacturing and construction, while increased 0.2 percent in services.
The number of employed rose by 10,200 from the previous quarter. Excluding temporary work, employment is expected to almost stabilize in the first quarter, the agency said.
Year-on-year, salaried employment was flat in the first quarter.
