Bay Street stocks were little changed at open Tuesday as gauges of most sectors were stuck in the mud, resulting in a modest loss for Toronto's main index. The S&P/TSX Composite Index eased 4.03 points or 0.04 percent to 11,484.50.
Among base-metal stocks, First Quantum Minerals (FM.TO) rose over 2 percent, while Inmet Mining (IMN.TO) and Teck Resources (TCK_B.TO) were trading flat.
In the oil patch, Coastal Energy (CEN.TO) gained nearly 4 percent. MEG Energy (MEG.TO) and Tourmaline Oil (TOU.TO) edged up 0.50 percent each.
Among gold plays, Agnico-Eagle Mines (AEM.TO) and Goldcorp. (G.TO) rose around 1 percent each.
Meanwhile, financial stocks were trading lower, with TD Bank (TD.TO), Royal Bank (RY.TO) and Scotiabank (BNS.TO) easing around 0.50 percent each.
