The Queens Park Ranger's soccer star Joey Barton summoned his inner Morrissey after being ejected from Saturday's game at Manchester City. The mercurial midfielder earned a red card for an off-the-ball incident with City striker Carlos Tevez and kicking out at match-winner Sergio Aguero.
He then immediately took to his Twitter account after leaving the field and posted a line from a the Smiths' song "Still Ill": "For there are brighter sides to life and I should know because I seen them, but not very often..."
Later on, Barton posted another Smiths' quote, this time from "Cemetery Gates": "There's always someone, somewhere with a big nose, who knows and who trips you up and laughs when you fall..."
Barton's bio page used to include another line from "Still Ill" that read "I decree today that life is simply taking and not giving. England is mine and it owes me a living."
Barton faces a nine-game ban for his on-field antics.
