Former Free bassist Andy Fraser says that the band considered utilizing a hologram to re-create deceased guitarist Paul Kossoff for a performance at the 2012 Olympics.
Fraser tells Classic Rock Magazine the former band mates thought about a number of options in order to make the Olympics gig happen. "I was looking into a Kossoff hologram by the Tupac people, so we would actually be playing with his track."
The cost of producing the hologram, however, proved to be too much. Fraser says "the million-dollar price tag didn't go down too well with others."
Replacing Kossoff with another well-known guitarist didn't go over well with the bandmates either, even though Fraser says he threw out names like Mark Knopfler, Ron Wood, Dave Gilmour.
All in all, it doesn't look like the Free reunion will happen in time for the 2012 London Olympics.
