Auto insurance group Progressive Corp. (PGR) reported lower April 2012 net income of $61.2 million or $0.10 per share, compared with $118.0 million or $0.18 per share a year before.
However, net premiums written for the recent month improved 9% to $1.67 billion from last year's $1.54 billion, with net premiums earned rising 7% to $1.53 billion from $1.43 billion in April 2011.
