Mariah Carey has blasted the U.S. edition of X Factor saying she never had any interest in appearing on the show. During a recent interview with Extra, Mariah spoke on the rumors that she might have been a judge on this year's show.

The R&B diva says she has the utmost respect for the show's new judge Britney Spears, but says she ultimately has little interest:

"You think I focus on that stuff? Have we met? I love [Britney], honestly, I think she's a very nice person, but I don't care who's going on that show - as long as it's not me."

A source close to the show tells the U.K.'s Daily Mail that Mariah was, in fact, interested in appearing on the show but backed out when she wasn't offered her choice of roles:

"Last year she wanted to have a role, but she wanted to judge the judges or something, and that wouldn't have worked," says the source.
