West Marine Inc. (WMAR: Quote) announced that its Board has named Matthew Hyde, 49, President and Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Geoff Eisenberg, 59, who, earlier this year, disclosed his intention to step down upon the appointment of a successor. Hyde will join West Marine on June 19, 2012.

Hyde joins West Marine from REI. Most recently, he served as Executive Vice President. He was responsible for the company's Stores, Direct-to-Customer/e-Commerce, Marketing and Real Estate.

Cisco Results Top Estimates

Cisco Systems, Inc., the world's largest computer networking gear maker, said Wednesday after the markets closed that its third quarter profit rose 14.5% from last year, helped by higher sales and a tax benefit. The company's quarterly earnings per share, excluding items, also came in above analysts' expectations as did its quarterly sales.
