Chip maker Qualcomm Inc (QCOM) announced that it has appointed Clifford Ficke as vice president and president of Qualcomm Japan. The company noted that Jun Yamada will transition from his current role as senior vice president and president of Qualcomm Japan to senior advisor.
The company said that Ficke will oversee Qualcomm's operations in Japan and will report to Jing Wang, executive vice president and president of Global Business Operations.
Jun Yamada, who made significant contributions to Qualcomm's business growth in Japan since 2005, providing continued guidance as Qualcomm focuses on driving new Qualcomm technologies in Japan, the company added.
Before joining Qualcomm in May 2011 as vice president of sales and operations, Ficke served as vice president of sales and business development at Applied Micro Circuits Corp (AMCC).
