Adele picked up two awards at the Ivor Novello Awards on May 17 in a London ceremony: the PRS for Music Most Performed Work award for "Rolling in the Deep" and Songwriter of the Year. The ceremony celebrates the achievements of songwriters as voted on by industry composers and writers.
"The main thing was the songs weren't as good as my voice, and I took that on board and now I'm winning songwriter of the year," said Adele as she accepted the award from Annie Lennox.
"It was like lightning had struck," said Lennox of Adele. "She doesn't need talent shows and competitions and hype - this is the real deal."
PJ Harvey took home the Best Album Award for Let England Shake, while Lana Del Ray won Best Contemporary Song for her track "Video Games."
