Cyclists around the country gathered for National Bike to Work Day on May 18- part of the ongoing Bike to Work Month. Organized events took place in major cities including Washington, D.C. and Indianapolis.
Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard spoke at an event for participants, noting that it was a great way to foster the biking community in his city:
"The bicycling community in Indianapolis continues to grow along with the bike lane miles across the city, and this event is an opportunity to raise awareness for bicycle safety and the many options cyclists have for bike commuting here," said Mayor Ballard.
"We continue to work to make Indianapolis one of the most connected and livable cities in the Midwest, and events such as Bike to Work Day encourage everyone to partake in helping us reaching that goal."
