Total foreign assets held by Japan climbed 3.3 percent year-on-year to JPY 582.05 trillion, data released by the Ministry of Finance showed Tuesday.
Japan remained the world's largest creditor country with Japan's net foreign assets remaining almost steady at JPY 253 trillion. Foreign investors stepped up their holdings of Japanese assets by JPY 17 trillion or 5.5 percent annually to JPY 329.038 trillion.
Foreign direct investment stood at JPY 74.828 trillion, up JPY 7.137 trillion from a year earlier.
