Danish Consumer Confidence Weakens In May

Denmark's consumer confidence deteriorated in May, after improving in the previous month, data released by Statistics Denmark showed Tuesday.

The consumer confidence index, which reflects households' views of the current and economic situation, dropped to -0.4 in May from 0.6 in April.

Consumers were more downbeat about Denmark's present economic condition compared to an year earlier, with the corresponding indicator falling to -6.2 in May from -4.9 in April, while the index of households' expectations for the economy in the next 12 months dropped to 8.4 from 13.2.

Consumers were, however, less downbeat about their current personal finances compared to last year, with the relevant sub-index rising to -3.9 in May from -4.3 last month. The measure of consumers' expectations for their personal finances in the next twelve months dropped to 6.2 from 10.3 in the previous month, data showed.
