Elton John is the highest-ranking classic rock artist on this year's annual Forbes 100 Most Powerful Celebrities List, coming in at number 17.
The list, which ranks income, media stature and web presence over the last year, was topped largely by stars in the pop music genre.
Over the last year Elton took in an estimated $80 million, which is estimated by a series of industry insiders including booking agents, managers and rock label personnel.
Paul McCartney came in number 21 with $52 million, and Jon Bon Jovi came in number 25 with $60 million.
This year's list was topped by Jennifer Lopez, followed by Oprah Winfrey, Justin Bieber, Rihanna and Lady Gaga.
Elton also made recent headlines when a ballet based on his life, Love Lies Bleeding, got its television debut on the CBC on April 9.
