European Economics Preview: German GfK Consumer Confidence Data Due

Consumer sentiment survey results from Germany and France are the major reports due on Friday, headlining a light day for the European economic news.

The market research group GfK is slated to release German consumer confidence survey data at 2.00 am ET. The forward-looking consumer confidence index is forecast to remain at 5.6 points in June.

At 2.45 am ET, the French statistical office Insee is scheduled to issue its consumer confidence survey results for May. Economists expects the index to remain unchanged at 88 in May.

Spain's producer price data is due at 3.00 am ET. Producer price inflation is seen easing to 2.7 percent annually in April from 3.3 percent in March.

At 4.00 am ET, Italy's statistical office Istat is set to publish retail sales figures. Retail sales are forecast to drop 0.2 percent month-on-month in March after rising 0.6 percent in February.

In the meantime, Poland's retail sales and unemployment reports are due. Retail sales growth is seen slowing to 9.3 percent annually in April from 10.7 percent in March. At the same time, the jobless rate is expected to fall to 12.9 percent in April from 13.3 percent.
