JoAnna Garcia of "Better With You" has been tapped to step into the female lead of NBC's new office comedy "Animal Practice." The show centers on a crabby veterinarian who is passionate about animals, but no so tolerant of his fellow man. Justin Kirk plays the lead role.
Garcia steps into the role vacated by Amy Huberman, who appeared in the pilot. Other stars of the program include Tyler Labine and Bobby Lee. It was created by Brian Gatewood and Alessandro Tanaka.
The new gig comes at a busy time for Garcia who was in negotiations for several different projects before landing "Animal Practice." She was initially linked to a multi-camera family show from the creators of "Better With You" and then also a new comedy from Greg Malins and Greg Berlanti. Both projects were axed before reaching the green light from their networks.
