Police investigating allegations of a match-fixing scandal in Italian football have arrested 19 people, including Lazio captain Stefano Mauri and former Genoa midfielder Omar Milanetto.

Italian police, who launched an operation on Monday morning, said in a statement that they are searching more than 30 homes of players, trainers and administrators of clubs in Serie A, Serie B and lower divisions on suspicion of involvement in match-fixing.

Police questioned Serie A winning Juventus coach Antonio Conte and Italian defender Domenico Criscito.

It was part of a wide-ranging long-term probe "Last Bet" set up in June last year, which has already seen several people, including current and former Italian players, arrested.

Following up the arrest in December of Singapore's Tan Seet Eng, who headed an illegal international betting ring, five people were also arrested in Hungary on suspicion of being part of it.

Former Atalanta captain and Italy midfielder Cristiano Doni, and former Lazio and Italy striker Giuseppe Signori were banned in August for their part in the 'Calcioscommesse' scandal involving Serie B matches last season.

Mauri joined Lazio in 2006, and shortly became a key player in a high-flying Lazio team. The 32-year-old attacking midfielder played 11 international matches for Italy.
