Japan is scheduled to release a batch of data on Tuesday, highlighting a modest day for Asia-Pacific economic activity. On tap are April figures for household spending, unemployment and retail sales, plus the results of May's small business confidence survey.

Household spending is expected to rise 2.5 percent on year following the 3.4 percent gain in March. The unemployment rate is expected to hold steady at 4.5 percent, while retail sales are tipped to jump 6.0 percent on year and 0.1 percent on month. That follows the 10.3 percent annual surge and the 1.2 percent monthly contraction in March. The small business survey saw a score of 47.6 in April.

Singapore will announce April numbers for its producer price index; prices were up 4.1 percent on year and 1.7 percent on month in March.

Australia will provide data for new home sales in April; sales were down 9.4 percent on month in March.
