TSX Up At Open Tuesday

Bay Street stocks opened higher Tuesday amid buying across a variety of sectors, with the S&P/TSX Composite Index adding 65.74 points or 0.57 percent to 11,631.89.

The Diversified Materials Index gained over 1 percent, with Teck Resources (TCK_B.TO) and First Quantum Minerals (FM.TO) adding around 2 percent each.

Among financial stocks, Scotiabank (BNS.TO) rose close to 3 percent after reporting second-quarter net income that matched consensus estimates.

In the oil patch, Calfrac Well Services ( CFW.TO) gained almost 5 percent. Suncor Energy (SU.TO) and Pacific Rubiales Energy (PRE.TO) moved up around 2 percent each.

Meanwhile, Ithaca Energy (IAE.TO) dived over 30 percent after announcing that it has ceased discussions with all parties regarding the potential acquisition of all of the outstanding shares of the company.
