Ocean Rig UDW Inc. (ORIG: Quote) reported first-quarter net loss of $46.3 million or $0.35 per share, compared to a net income of $28.9 million or $0.22 per share in the year-ago quarter.
Excluding items, net loss for the latest quarter was $39.9 million or $0.30 per share in the previous year quarter. On average, five analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report a loss of $0.10 per share. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Revenues from drilling contracts increased to $163.01 million from $109.33 million in the comparable quarter last year.
