Mary J. Blige is facing a lawsuit from TD Bank, which issued her FFAWN (Foundation for the Advancement of Women) non-profit a $250,000 loan in 2011 and claims that it paid back only $368.33.
The Queen of Hip-Hop Soul addressed the suit with DJ Angie Martinez in a phone interview, saying that the organization was subject to mismanagement:
"FFAWN has been mismanaged and when I found out about all these issues, I immediately got on the phone with my lawyers and my advisers and tried to fix this . . . I set out to empower and encourage women, but it turns out the business part of it was not managed properly."
The New York Post reported that FFAWN also neglected to file a 2010 tax return and has also been sued by a group of musicians who say they have not received payment following a 2011 FFAWN benefit concert.
"If it's my responsibility, that's fine. I'm a soldier, I'm strong and I can take anything," Blige added.
