Whirlpool Corp. (WHR: Quote) said that Meritage Homes (MTH: Quote) recently selected Whirlpool as the exclusive appliance provider to the builder's wide range of homes, including first-time, move-up, luxury and active-adult. Whirlpool also said it will provide Jenn-Air, KitchenAid, Maytag and Whirlpool brand appliances to Meritage Homes' extensive communities throughout the Southern and Western states.

Cisco Systems, Inc., the world's largest computer networking gear maker, said Wednesday after the markets closed that its third quarter profit rose 14.5% from last year, helped by higher sales and a tax benefit. The company's quarterly earnings per share, excluding items, also came in above analysts' expectations as did its quarterly sales.
