El Paso Electric Co. (EE: Quote) said that its Board of Directors have appointed Thomas Shockley as the company's permanent CEO or chief executive officer. Shockley has been serving as interim CEO since the resignation of David Stevens.
Shockley brings over 35 years of experience in the utility industry to EPE. He was formerly Vice Chairman and Chief Operating Officer of American Electric Power or AEP Company, one of the largest electric utilities in the country, and has been a member of EPE's Board of Directors since 2010. He also served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Central and South West Corporation, which is now part of AEP, the company noted.
El Paso Electric is a regional electric utility providing generation, transmission and distribution service to about 380,000 retail and wholesale customers in a 10,000 square mile area of the Rio Grande valley in west Texas and southern New Mexico.
