American Honda Motor Co. Inc., a unit of Japanese automaker Honda Motor Co. Ltd. (HMC), Friday said its US sales for May increased 47.6 percent to 133,997 units from 90,773 units last year.
Total Honda division sales climbed 46 percent to 119,411 units from 81,773 units, while total Acura division sales rose 62.1 percent to 14,586 units from last year.
"With our best May sales performance since before the financial crisis it's obvious Honda's return to strength is in full swing, and our May sales are impressive irrespective of last year's production supply problems," said John Mendel, American Honda executive vice president of sales.
