At least 12 people were killed and several injured when a suicide car bomber attacked a church in Nigeria's northern city of Bauchi on Sunday, reports quoting officials and witnesses said.
The suicide-bomber detonated his explosives outside the Harvest Field Pentecostal Church in Yeruwa area. The church was badly damaged in the explosion.
No organization has claimed responsibility for the attack, but the radical Islamic sect Boko Haram was suspected. It had carried out several such attacks in northern Nigeria killing hundreds of people in the past.
Boko Haram, having its stronghold in the north-eastern city of Maiduguri, wants to impose Sharia law in Nigeria and had targeted churches as well as schools, police stations, and other government buildings.
Soldiers cordoned off the blast site barring civilians from entering the area.
