Louis C.K. has been cast to star in a new Woody Allen film. The "Louie" star has publicly acknowledged Woody Allen as a comedic influence and even parodied Allen's classic 1979 film "Manhattan" in the season three teaser for his FX television show.
No word on the role he will play, but C.K. will reportedly appear alongside fellow stand-up legend Andrew Dice Clay in the as-of-now untitled film. Other talent already signed on to appear in the film include actors Peter Sarsgaard, Alec Baldwin, Cate Blanchett, Bobby Cannavale, Michael Emerson and Sally Hawkins.
The film will is scheduled to begin shooting in New York City and San Francisco later this summer, which represents a return for Allen to American shores for filming. The New York City native has primarily shot films in Europe for past several years due primarily to the funding opportunities that were more plentiful in Europe.
