"Somebody That I Used to Know," the hit track from Australian folk artist Gotye, is the longest running number one of 2012 after logging its seventh week atop the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
The previous record holder, "We Are Young" by fun. featuring Janelle Monae, was atop the same chart for six weeks. "Somebody" is also the first record holder from a male artist since Eminem's hit "Love the Way You Lie" held the spot for seven consecutive weeks in 2010.
Gotye previously announced that he will release 10 remixes of the track featuring Kimbra via iTunes this month.
Gotye's North American tour kicks off on August 24 at Red Rocks in Morrison, Colorado and goes through October 13 when he appears at Austin City Limits in Austin, Texas.
