Journey joined country trio Rascal Flatts onstage at the CMT Music Awards this past Wednesday to perform their classic, "Don't Stop Believing." Despite being a country group, the Rascal Flatts boys cite Journey as one of their top influences and were very excited to get the chance to perform with them.
At rehearsals on Tuesday, Rascal Flatts' Jay DeMarcus told a CMT crew, "We've dreamed about collaborating with Journey forever."
The absence of original frontman Steve Perry did not take away from the event, with Joe Don Rooney of Rascal Flatts saying, "It's so cool with [lead vocalist Arnel Pineda] in the band now. It's been this injection. This guy's got serious energy. He's got serious pipes. He can really, really sing and really bring it."
Frontman Gary LeVox concluded, "As a band, they've made some of the most timeless music in music history. So to be able to share the same stage and sing and play with those guys is just a dream come true."
Journey's "Don't Stop Believing" is the top selling iTunes single of all time.
