United Continental May Consolidated Traffic Up 0.3%; Capacity Up 0.4%

United Continental Holdings Inc. (UAL: Quote) reported May 2012 combined operational results for its airline units.

UAL's consolidated traffic increased 0.3 percent to 18.085 billion Revenue Passenger Miles or RPMs from 18.026 billion RPMs last year.

UAL's consolidated capacity rose 0.4 percent to 21.620 billion Available Seat Miles or ASMs from 21.524 billion ASMs last year. Consolidated load factor in May 2012 decreased 0.1 point to 83.6% from 83.7% last year.

UAL's May 2012 consolidated passenger revenue per available seat mile (PRASM) increased an estimated 0.0 to 1.0 percent as compared to May 2011.

The report said durable goods orders surged up by 3.3 percent in April after tumbling by a revised 5.9 percent in March.
