Latvia's consumer price inflation slowed for the ninth consecutive month in May, data released by Statistics Latvia showed Friday.
Annual inflation slowed to 2.2 percent in May from 2.8 percent in April. Inflation has slowed regularly since August 2011 when consumer prices moved up 4.6 percent.
Food prices increased 1.1 percent annually, while clothing and footwear prices decreased 1.8 percent. There was a 6.6 percent year-on-year increase in housing costs and utility prices during the month, and a 3.1 percent gain in transportation costs.
On a monthly basis, consumer prices edged down 0.2 percent in May, reversing the 0.6 percent growth seen in April.
