Tommy Chong Battling Prostate Cancer

Tommy Chong of Cheech and Chong fame is suffering from prostate cancer, the actor told CNN on Saturday, June 9. He said he was diagnosed a month ago, but noticed symptoms eight years ago while jailed for selling drug paraphernalia.

"I've got prostate cancer, and I'm treating it with hemp oil, with cannabis," he told CNN's Don Lemon. "So (legalizing marijuana) means a lot more to me than just being able to smoke a joint without being arrested."

Chong, 74, says that, because he was jailed when symptoms first arose, a period during which he was drug free, the cancer cannot be linked to his drug usage:

"So I know it had nothing to do with cannabis. Cannabis is a cure."

"I'm taking it as medicine," he added by way of clarification.
