Black Sabbath and Slash each took home Kerrang! Awards, presented by the rock magazine of the same name at a ceremony in London on June 7.
Slash picked up the Icon Award, thanking the mag for their early support of Guns N' Roses:
"Kerrang! was one of the first magazines that put us on the cover back in the day - it's a good magazine."
Sabbath nabbed the Kerrang! Inspiration honor which Ozzy Osbourne, Geezer Butler and Tony Iommi were on hand to accept. Their acceptance marked the end of the evening and the crowd was moved enough to give the boys a standing ovation. The recently jilted Bill Ward was conspicuously absent.
You Me at Six, who were nominated for five prizes and took home the top honor, Best British Band.
